Head U16+ Technical Race Coach

Employment status: Seasonal (October thru April)

Reports to: Program Director  

Compensation:  

  • Coaching compensation per pay will be $95 to $130 or higher DOE.

  • Administrative work compensated at $17.50 an hour.

  • Winter Season Pass at Montana Snowbowl.

  • Liability and workman’s compensation insurance.

  • Staff development reimbursement as approved by the Board.

  • Professional license reimbursement as approved by the Board.

 

About MSEF:

MSEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of individual athletes through the sport of alpine skiing by providing positive role models, quality ski race training and competitive opportunities for young Western Montana Skiers.   Our skiers compete in the Northern Division of the United States Ski and Snowboard association.

 

Job Duties:

Coaching:

  1. Oversee the planning and management of the YSL and MST programs.

  2. Manage the alpine race training program, including seasonal dryland training, night training, camps, and weekend on-snow.  

  3. Oversee storage and proper maintenance of MSEF team equipment such as radios, timing equipment, gates, panels, drills, waxes, ski tuning equipment, team coats and supplies in conjunction with the Program Director. 

  4. Manage all aspects of race organization, in conjunction with the Race Administrator, Race Committee and appropriate staff from host resorts. This includes, but is not limited to, on hill preparations, course setting, timing, and officiating.  

  5. Organize end of season awards banquet and work with coaches to choose recipients and assist with planning. 

Administration:

  1. Effectively and timely communicate on all aspects of the MSEF MST program via email, text, Team Reach, website, and calendar updates.  

  2. Assist Program Director with the recruitment, management, and development of professional alpine coaches.  

  3. Enforce all proper safety policies to meet USSA safety standards including, but not limited to, Code of Conduct, SafeSport Code, Concussion Policy, Housing and Travel Policies.  

  4. Organize and ensure appropriate levels of training and development for all MST and YSL coaching staff.

  5. Foster excellent working relations with Montana Snowbowl and its staff. Provide Snowbowl mountain management (and Missoula Freestyle Team) with prompt and timely communication of needs for and changes to training/competition schedule and other mountain operation details.  

  6. Actively participate in fundraising events and help coordinate as needed.

  7. Represent MSEF at Northern Division board and ACC meetings.  

  8. Attend MSEF board meetings.  

Other:

  1. Maintain United States Ski and Snowboard Association membership.
